This Weekend’s BBQ


After a considerable amount of complaining about the wintry weather we’ve been having for the past two months (avalanche in June? Really?!), we’re finally having some sun! Actually a lot of it. All at once. After a rainy 4th of July, we’re all of a sudden hitting 95 degrees to 100. Unbearably hot for most, but I’ll take it! I can finally wear a tank top and shorts and shove my sweaters into the deepest end of my closet.  I’m going to a BBQ party / baby shower on Saturday and I’m making yummy sangria. My friend Danielle found this recipe online and it sounds delish! I’ll be sure to make a giant vat of it for all to partake!

Ginger Brunch Sangria

1 Bottle of red wine
1 Lemon cut into wedges
1 Orange cut into wedges
1 Lime cut into wedges
2 Tbsp sugar
Splash of orange juice or lemonade
2 Shots of gin or triple sec (optional)
1 Cup of raspberries or strawberries (may use thawed or frozen)
1 Small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
4 Cups ginger ale

Pour wine into a large pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges and pineapple then add sugar, orange juice and gin. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale, berries and ice just before serving. If you’d like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice. Serves 3-4.
